The European Cybersecurity Month 2024

European Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024 is an annual initiative held every October, organised by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) and various European stakeholders. The goal is to educate the public about online threats and promote good cybersecurity habits to build a safer digital ecosystem across the continent.

The 2024 theme, #ThinkB4UClick, focuses on combating social engineering—a technique where cybercriminals manipulate individuals into divulging sensitive information or performing dangerous actions. Scammers often use phishing emails, impersonation, or fake offers to deceive their victims. This year’s campaign aims to empower people and businesses to recognise these tactics and make informed decisions before clicking on links or sharing personal data.

From October 2nd to 4th, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and the Committee of the Regions (CoR) are hosting European Cybersecurity Month (ECSM) in Brussels. This event will bring together top speakers from EU institutions, regional governments, and civil society to address the challenges of the changing cyber landscape in Europe.

The 12th edition of ECSM will focus on social engineering, a growing threat that targets human behaviour to breach security.

The official program for the following days is:
2nd of October: Best practices from EU institutions, bodies and agencies (EUIBAs) to improve cybersecurity.
3rd of October: Cybersecurity frameworks and initiatives at local and regional level.
4th of October: Strategies from civil society organisations to strengthen cybersecurity.
