ELOQUENCE Workshop: Spotlight on AI and Language Technologies

On Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, the Science and Technology Park of the Faculty of Technical Sciences will host the “ELOQUENCE Workshop”, as part of the ELOQUENCE project’s plenary meeting. The workshop will feature presentations from notable partners in the AI and language technology space, focusing particularly on the following speakers:

  1. Slobodan Marković, Digital Advisor at UNDP, will present on “Language Technologies for the Serbian Language,” exploring how UNDP’s initiatives are leveraging AI to support and enhance the digital presence of the Serbian language. This presentation highlights UNDP’s commitment to developing language resources that bolster inclusivity and access.
  2. Darko Pekar, CEO at AlfaNum, will delve into “Speech Technology for Serbian and Kindred South Slavic Languages.” The presentation will cover recent advances in voice recognition and synthesis, focusing on enhancing accessibility and communication across the South Slavic linguistic landscape.
  3. Luka Nedimović (Machine Learning Engineer) will represent Smartocto and tackle the challenges of “Federated BERT and Serbian: 99% Embedding Similarity Challenges.” This session will examine the nuances of adapting BERT language models to Serbian, focusing on the challenges and breakthroughs in achieving high embedding similarity crucial for accurate language processing.

The workshop will also include technical sessions and ELOQUENCE pilot project presentations, addressing areas such as natural language understanding, bias detection, and AI-assisted support in call centres.
