From October 15th to 17th, 2024, the CLARIN Annual Conference took place in Barcelona and brought together a diverse group of language technology experts from academia, research institutions, and industry. Jordi Luque Serrano, the coordinator of the ELOQUENCE project, represented “AI: The Future of Mobile Interaction” during the event’s first Industry Track Session.
This session aimed to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world applications, fostering collaboration that benefits both sectors. As a speaker and roundtable participant, Jordi shared insights on how the industry can collaborate with academia to accelerate technological advancements and drive societal benefits through innovative language technologies.
Jordi represented the Spanish industry landscape specializing in AI and language technologies. During his presentation, he highlighted the achievements of the ELOQUENCE project, particularly its work on federated adaptation of large language models, which aims to support multilingual and multidisciplinary audiences across Europe. Jordi also discussed the challenges and opportunities of applying AI technologies to meet industry needs, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between research and the private sector. He aimed to foster more effective knowledge, data, and technology transfer between academia and industry.
In his closing speech, he emphasised that by working together, these sectors can accelerate technological advancements while creating broader societal benefits. ELOQUENCE’s participation in the Industry Track Session underscored the project’s commitment to responsible AI innovation, ensuring that cutting-edge technologies are accessible, ethical, and impactful for both businesses and society.
