ICML 2026 Workshop on Efficient Multimodal Question Answering (EMM-QA)

The ICML 2026 Workshop on Efficient Multimodal Question Answering (EMM-QA) will take place on 11 July 2026 at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul, South Korea.

The workshop focuses on question answering over multimodal inputs, with a particular emphasis on balancing answer quality and system efficiency in the era of large language models. It will bring together researchers and practitioners working on multimodal QA, retrieval, reasoning, evaluation, benchmarking, synthetic data generation, efficient inference, and human-computer interaction.

As part of the workshop, EMM-QA 2026 will host the QANTA 2026 shared challenge, a multimodal quiz bowl competition where systems answer incrementally revealed questions that may combine text and images. Participating teams will be invited to submit system description papers presenting their Multimodal AI Teammates.

The workshop welcomes full papers, short papers, position papers, system description papers, and relevant non-archival submissions. Contributions may address both technical advances and broader questions related to efficient, knowledge-intensive multimodal AI systems.
