ELOQUENCE launches a European-wide survey on perceptions, acceptance and acceptability of key AI technologies

As part of its Work Package 6 on the Assessment and Validation of Emerging AI Technologies, the ELOQUENCE project has launched a European-wide survey to explore public perceptions, acceptance, and acceptability of key artificial intelligence technologies.

Understanding perceptions of AI across Europe

The survey aims to gather valuable insights into people’s awareness, acceptance and perceived benefits or risks of AI technologies relevant to ELOQUENCE. It also examines how individuals perceive the broader societal implications of AI use, including their level of engagement, motivation, societal needs and ethical concerns.

By collecting diverse opinions, ELOQUENCE seeks to better understand how AI technologies are received by different communities and how issues such as trust, fairness, and inclusivity shape people’s attitudes towards AI.

Focus on inclusion and diversity

Participants are welcome to take part anonymously, and may, if they wish, self-identify as belonging to one or more of six target groups. These groups have been chosen for their relevance in statistical analysis, especially regarding issues of bias and privacy.
The target groups are:

  1. Women
  2. Persons of African descent
  3. Non-nationals in their current country of residence
  4. Persons with a disability
  5. Elderly (65+) persons
  6. Individuals who self-identify as members of an LGBTI / SOGI community

Respondents may also choose not to answer this question at all.

Multilingual and open to all

The survey is multilingual and aims to be as inclusive as possible by offering both widely spoken and less common European languages.
At the time of launch, it is already available in ten languages: Croatian, Czech, Danish, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Italian and Slovenian.
More languages will be introduced soon.

Anonymous and easy to access

The survey is hosted on the European Commission’s EUSurvey portal and can be completed without logging in or providing personal data. It is open to anyone interested in sharing their opinion about AI and its role in today’s society.
